Here are photos from day two at the Monolith Festival.  I’ll be honest, I didn’t know, or had even heard of 75% of he bands playing at the festival.  But that’s the thing I dig about festivals, exposure to new music.  I’ve watched a YouTube video of some live Cut Copy about 50 times now; never heard of ‘em before Monolith. Mickey Avalon? How can someone not hit up Google hard to dig up more info on this doode to see what makes him tick. But it wasn’t only new bands. I had a chance to checkout The Swayback again, who filled in for someone that had to cancel, and they put on another good show. But the duo from Paris, France – Justice – was who I was looking forward to the most, and they didn’t disappoint.

One thing that I need to get in the habit of is jotting down some notes about shooting these gigs.  Especially for these festivals.  The whole day just ends up being one huge blur, running from stage to stage.  I’d like to get more detailed in my technical re-cap and how I approached each band.  After all, I want this site to be a place where those just getting into concert photography can learn a thing..or possibly two.  So, look for that in my next post.
